Survey Question #4

4. What is worship to you these days? How does it play a part in your everyday life?

If you by that mean “going to church”, I’ve radically changed my views. I no longer view the church as a structure or organisation but as a family gathered around Jesus, who come together to share in the life He gives to us.

But if  by “worship” you mean how you give yourself to Father, I try to follow Him no matter what, and I try to praise Him no matter what the circumstance, in confidence that He is the one who really is in charge of my life (even though I still sometimes try to get Him to do it my way…).      [Stefan A. Sweden]

I find worship in those spontaneous moments of joy when I have revelation that this God we love is real and does love us. This happens quite often, and lasts a moment, bringing tears of joy and relief. Tears and worship are often mixed.    [Charles M. Cape Town]

It is just being with Him and enjoying Him for Who He is, and allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal more and more of the Lord to me as I wait before Him.   [Nancy F.  Zimbabwe]

Worship to me is recognizing Father’s love, goodness and power, and yielding myself to Him in response. I consider everything I do unto Him, whether it be eating, working on the yard, doing a project or counselling, etc. as worship. Whenever I become discouraged, irritated or frustrated, I realize that I’ve begun worshipping myself, always the signal to turn my focus back on Him who alone is worthy.  [David F. USA]

Worship to me is how I live my life under God.  When I follow Him, spend time with someone He puts on my heart, yield to Him in some area of my life, that is my worship to Him.  Praise and adoration rise from my heart spontaneously whenever I recognize how He is working around me and in the lives of others.   I find it happens far less in ‘song services’ than I used to think it did, though I love when believers can be together and exalt God in song, prayer, and listening to Him.  Unfortunately for many this has become more of a detached ritual than a living expression of shared life.    [Wayne J. USA]
