The voice of the Spirit

Some folks can list off all the various ways in which God speaks to His people today. Ultimately however, there is only one way in which He speaks to us. This is by the Holy Spirit within us. It could be revolutionary and releasing for us if we could come to understand the simplicity and directness of God’s voice to us in this way.

This is not to say that God doesn’t speak to us through the Scriptures, or through circumstances, or through people sharing an understanding of God’s will for us. It is saying that what is declared or shown only becomes the “Now” word for us when the Holy Spirit gives inner persuasion, indication, impression, conviction and witness that this is what God is saying to us at this particular point in time. This is a Spirit-quickened, Spirit-internalized and Spirit-energized word.
