Heart issues!
Some issues dear to my heart have come to mind recently and well worth sharing with you. It is always a fond memory for me to think back to my conversion experience and subsequent years. The key promise that thrills me is that eternal life is all about ‘knowing God’ Yes, actually, knowing! It is simply amazing to think that the God of the universe invites us into intimate relationship with Himself. Stunning!
If you listen to people you will quickly realize that this key fact about ‘knowing God‘ can change over the years to become ‘knowing about God’ and what a vast difference that makes. If nothing else I have come to understand that true freedom is about knowing God experientially! This daily experience is for all of those who have surrendered their lives to Jesus with no second class citizens.
It may be helpful to consider what it means to be a Christian. It surely must begin by seeing things from His perspective and letting go of our own! Living life with Him is not an organizational event – it is about the experience of His LIFE!
The reality is…
He is not distant, He is near. He is not aloof, He is close by and within. He is not impersonal - He is very personal. He is wanting to fully embrace us, if we will allow Him. He longs for you and me to share our lives with Him and to live fully satisfied in Him alone! He desires a lover people full of grace and gratitude!
I enjoy words and have found these helpful………
Ordinary [usual, normal, common, plain, commonplace] What a dull word for those whose lives are filled with religious activity. But ordinary is the most part of our lives. We get up and prepare for the day, do whatever we do and return. Again, it is those extraordinary moments that we look for and relish. Yet Jesus is part of the walking, eating, driving, talking, working, gardening, reading process! Jesus was worn out by the trip and sat down at the well and told a woman her life story. He went to a wedding and produced some of the finest wine ever! He told wonder-filled stories about a kingdom over the table at meal times. The ordinary became extra ordinary with Jesus! A boat trip across a lake became an object lesson about trusting God. As a result I am learning that the ordinary is sacred and purposeful in our lives!
Listening [to be all ears, attentive] He wakes me up in the morning, wakes me up, opens my ears to listen as one ready to take orders. Proverbs reminds us over and over about the power of a listening heart! Listen and become wise…listen, listen..listen! Let us break the mould of a noise-focussed generation and listen to God. It takes grace and courage.
Focus – Who is our focus of attention and does He have priority in our lives? It is a delight to meet people who have focus in their lives. So much in todays society is blurred and messy and only God can bring focus to our lives. He longs to do that for you and me – today!
