Request
In response to Colin Langran’s post and his reference to the prophet Habakkuk Stan Firth made a comment. Rather than hope people would search out the comments I thought it would be sensible to add the request as a post. If anyone has this music please contact us and I will pass it on to Stan. Thank you in advance.
Song
There was a really lovely spiritual song, based on Habakkuk 3:17-19, that we used to sing in the early 1980s. I’ve been searching hard for a music copy, in the many older songbooks we have in our house, but can’t find it. If anyone is able to trace it, and make it known, I believe – especially in the light of all that Colin says in the blog – that there would be value in the song being revived among us.
‘Though the fig-tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vine,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls
yet I will rejoice in the Lord
I will be joyful in God my saviour.
The Sovereign Lord is my strength,
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer
he enables me to go on the heights’

Hi John
Below is a link to a clip of music for the version of the song ‘Though the fig tree does not blossom’ which is the version I know. If its the same one as you know it was written by T. Hopkins and published by Maranatha Music
All the best

Hi John
Further to the above posting I have found the music to Though The Fig Tree Does Not Blossom in Scripture in Song Book 2 (Songs of the Kingdom). I don’t have this book to hand but if you need the music score I will ask around and see if any of my friends have a copy.
Blessing
Richard
