The world needs Jesus

You might want to read and reflect upon these amazing statements in John chapter 1 and praise Him for His greatness!

In the beginning was the Word , and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Everything was created through Him; nothing - not one thing! - came into being without Him.

In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness - but the darkness has not understood it. He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognise Him.

He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him.

You would think that these amazing statements would be headline news and capture the hearts and imagination of people across the globe!

Jesus enjoyed and shared life with Father God before time, as we know it , began. This Life was birthed into the world He created and yet most of the world did not even notice. These words strike me forcibly every time I read them.

As God's people, we reflect on Jesus' miraculous birth, His amazing ministry filled with power and authority - His death burial and resurrection. We look on Him with awe and wonder and yet the world lives without the awareness of His Presence.

Gabriel appeared to Mary and declared that she was highly favoured, "The Lord is with you. You shall be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He wil be great and called "Son of the Most High" His kingdom shall know no end!

Mary's response was exhilarating, "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour."

Simeon, in old age declared as he held Jesus, "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of the people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."

There are many others who have experienced Christ in a significant way. John the Baptist, Andrew and Simon, Mary, Phillip and the other disciples, infact, a whole cloud of witnesses who have gone before us!

The witnesses that have gone before us are an encouragement to throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles in order that we might run the race set before us and fix our eyes on Jesus!

It is time for us to stand up and be counted in these challenging days. Jesus is Lord! Many have rejected Jesus as the only way to the Father. We are His ambassadors offering the life of Christ to those who are perishing. We are called to stand in the gap and cry out to the Father for mercy upon the leaders of this country, our neighbours, family and friends who do not yet recognise Him as Lord. I once asked a young woman if she knew the meaning of life and her only response to Jesus was, "I have never thought about that!"

We can make a difference to the lives of those around us. It has been said that love hears! It is also true that love cares and speaks and acts to demonstrate that Jesus is the only answer to a world that has fallen so far from its original intended state.

Let me ask you dear friend; are you prepared to be fully available to Jesus in these difficult days? Will you stand in the gap and cry out for the salvation of our God to be revealed to those around you? Where as Christians can we begin you may ask? I will leave you with these words from The Message - "The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighbourhood!"
