Thank you John for this latest blog. it is very timely. In the last year or so, I have experienced a “wearing down” as you put it. But through it and because of Fathers gentle caring for me, I am learning to do just that – “rest, walk, watch and work more in him”

Thanks for sharing this John, I need to put Jack Gray on my reading list. I think Eugene Peterson translates this idea so well in Matthew 11:28 – Jesus speaking; “Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
More often than not the people I speak to confess to feeling worn out by their “church experience” and their ongoing relationship to the institutional, “organised church” and its members. This is not the experience of everyone I confess but I have always been moved by what those who do have something to say have said; “we are so involved in the church that we feel as if the close daily walk we had with Jesus is something we have lost”. How sad.

Hi It is good to hear about you. Your in Dundee, Many years ago, I used to fly to Dundee with Autair International Airways as a Stewardess and eat in the restaurants in town with the air crew.
We live in Tyne and Wear, I am 63 and my husband is 53. I would be very interested to know more of you and when your speaking in the Uk, especially if its not too far.
