Life Song
THE EXPRESSION OF MY ‘LIFE-SONG’
1. What are the keys to continuing freshness in your love relationship with the Lord Jesus?
There are two items of importance in my love relationship with Jesus:
a.) Habitual relationships usually stagnate and become ritual…..so I look to keep my walk and talk with Jesus different and relevant each day.
b.) Focus…this draws me in to what is relevant in specific terms i.e. serving someone, discovering Jesus heart for that time.
2. What do you experience of the Holy Spirit’s speaking and leading in your every day life?
A recent experience of being taught to accept an accusation without retaliation …”he committed himself to him who judges justly….” 1Pet2….was a preparation time for a trying time at work. Hearing the Holy Spirit and understanding His leading is one thing but to succeed in obedience is another! I failed! No doubt it’s a lesson to be learned again.
3. Can you describe your everyday communication with God? Has this changed much since you first gave your life to Christ?
This may take the form of singing in the Spirit, sitting quietly absorbing His presence, strong powerful and authoritative prayer, spontaneous SMS to heaven ….not usually cryptic. This part of my life has become less formal and more relaxed as my relationship with Jesus has deepened.
4. What is worship to you these days? How does it play a part in your everyday life?
Worship flows from adoration …it is still singing love songs in response to Jesus’ expressions of love. Real worship naturally goes beyond that to demonstrations of His Lordship in serving and caring for people as well as the way we conduct business. It is the expression of my ‘life-song’!
5. What is your experience of blessings and disappointments in your relationship with other believers?
The blessing that flows from our relationships in the Body of Christ is the opportunity for life-flow as we are joined. The joy to serve and care as well as being cared for is an important part of this.
The disappointment is so often the ‘shallows’ of our relationship…..the need to ‘be in agreement on all things’ to qualify for friendship or the relationship being ‘functional’ as opposed to committed friendship.
6. What is your present understanding of local church life, leadership and structure?
The ‘local church’ should be known and visible …. In ‘deed’ more than ‘high street’! The community should know that we are relevant and not only exist but overflow to them in love!
Leaders are those that walk ahead and these should be set in place according to biblical instruction …there should be Elders who protect and guide, there should be all the ministry gifts of Ephesians 4 clearly functioning to bring the Body of Christ to maturity. The heart of this leadership should be servant-hood.
7. What 2 or 3 things have become increasingly important to you over the period since you first trusted in the Lord?
a.) The fact that the Church needs to turn outward to a needy generation.
b.) I want to be known as one who loves Jesus and His people with all my heart.
c.) I want to walk in an increasing dimension of the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
