Purpose
THE ULTIMATE PURPOSE OF MY LIFE
1. What are the keys to continuing freshness in your love relationship with the Lord Jesus?
For me it is a daily recognition that the Lord has a part in even the most simple things of every day life and that he loves me for exactly who I am.
2. What do you experience of the Holy Spirit’s speaking and leading in your every day life?
Probably the area I am most challenged by.
3. Can you describe your everyday communication with God? Has this changed much since you first gave your life to Christ?
In the beginning I guess I was more structured in my communication. Over the years I have become more talkative with the Lord and less structured to wait on the “right” setting and circumstances.
4. What is worship to you these days? How does it play a part in your everyday life?
Years ago it was an emotional thing for me. I always felt that it had to be in the right setting with a sense of purpose and structure. Now, it is sitting in a plane flying over the Grand Canyon on my way to a business meeting, and just thanking the Lord for the glorious beauty and his presence. It is looking into the night sky, and acknowledging that only a Great God can keep this silly rock called “Earth” from falling from it’s course.
5. What is your experience of blessings and disappointments in your relationship with other believers?
For the last 10 years living in the States I have had little or no relationship with believers. Most times I feel like I am on some distant island. Some of my best “friends” do not know the Lord, and all I have done is share with them as much as they are willing to open up to.
6. What is your present understanding of local church life, leadership and structure?
It is stale, restrictive and inhibiting.
7. What 2 or 3 things have become increasingly important to you over the period since you first trusted in the Lord?
As I grow older my mortality becomes more and more real. I so much want to know what the ultimate purpose of my life is. I would hate to get to the end and realize that I have missed my very purpose. (but having just read “The Shack”… hmmm… I think that I may be beginning to get it.
8 What 2 or 3 things have become quite unimportant/ meaningless/ valueless to you since God ‘turned your life around’?
Other than “Church” life nothing springs to mind immediately.
9. At the present time, what is your main area of desire, concern or aspiration?
That my children will ultimately choose the way of the Lord.
